Jordanian, Qatari crisis continues
Jordan-Qatar, Politics, 7/17/2001
The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said in its recent issue published on Monday that the Jordanian- Qatari crisis which erupted because of the official spokesman for the Hamas Movement Ibrahim Ghoushe and the Qatari plane which took him to Amman's airport has been calmed, yet still flaring under the ashes despite Ghoushe's return to Jordan and the return of the plane to Qatar.
The paper's sources explained that the ruler of Qatar Sheikh Hamad still feels "deeply wounded" because of releasing the Qatari planes and its crew and the Jordanian media escalation that coupled this incident on the Qatari leadership that covered Qatar, its ruler and the foreign minister and accused it of being a hireling to Israel and of making a conspiracy against Jordan, noting that this campaign also targeted to please certain Arab sides, rather than defending the interests of Jordan.
These sources indicated that the ruler of Qatar refused to permit his foreign minister to meet with the Jordanian King Abdullah in London, at the proposal of the Jordanian King. The proposal was accepted by the Qatari minister but under the condition to be permitted by prince Hamad, who did not agree to the meeting because of the provocative statements made by the Jordanian minister of the information Saleh al-Qallab. Statements that exceed all frontiers of political disputes and tackled sensitive family issues like the relations between the rule of Qatar and his " toppled father"( The ruler of Qatar overthrew his father and replace him in ruling the country.)
The same sources added that the ruler of Qatar recommended his government to follow up the judicial case filed against the Jordanian government demanding compensations for the losses inflected on Qatar as a result of holding the Qatari plane for two weeks at Amman's airport.
