Leftist organizations get unified
Morocco, Politics, 7/16/2001
Three Moroccan leftist parties joined together to form a unified leftist bloc: "the Unified Socialist Left."
The decision was made Sunday by the Organization for Democratic and Popular Action (OADP), the Independent Democrats, the Movement for Democracy and several leftist activists.
"Morocco needs a democratic alternative that will contribute to operating political and constitutional changes for the establishment of a genuine democracy, holding genuine elections and constructing a democratic parliamentary system," OADP chief, Mohamed Bensaid Ait Idder, told Moroccan 2m TV.
OADP is already member of the democratic bloc that also musters the Socialist Union of Popular Forces of Prime Minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi.
