Expected summit between Mubarak, al-Assad

The London- based al- Sharq al-Awsat daily said in its Sunday's issue, according to well-informed Egyptian sources that there are contacts taking place between Cairo and Damascus in order to convene a summit conference between President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Syria's President Bashar al-Assad very soon and the meeting is expected to be held in Damascus.
The paper added that this summit is of special importance as it comes following the talks held on Sunday by the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres in Cairo.
According to these sources the discussions between Presidents Mubarak and al- Assad will deal with conditions in the region and the results of the foreign visit made by President Bashar al-Assad ( his visit to Germany) and getting acquainting with the European position.
