Syria-Israel, Politics, 7/16/2001
In its issue of Sunday al-Majallah weekly said that the Syrian defense minister Lt. Gen. Mustafa Tlass stressed not one missile was launched from Syria even for testing.
The magazine quoted what it called a well-informed source in Syria as saying that the Israeli claims which said that Syria made a test on a long- range " Skud" missile towards Israel in that day when israeli Planes bombarded a position for the Syrian radar are groundless, and aim at diverting the world's attention to that Syria have weapons able to threaten Israel and consequently to give the justification for attacking Syrian positions in the future, besides this is an Israeli attempt to push the world to forget the recent Israeli attack.
The source added that Sharon has to be controlled, otherwise the region will be in a state of tension that can not be halted.
The Syrian source commented that Syria will not keep silence for Sharon and will put an end to any of his aggressive behaviors.
