Butaflika's visit to the US

The Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika on Friday showed his country's desire to strengthen its relations with the US in all fields.
News reports quoted Butaflika, who was visiting Washington as saying to the press that trade exchange between the two countries reached $ 3.6 billion in the year 2000. A fact which makes of Algeria the third ranking Arab partner for the USA.
The Algerian president revealed Algeria's desire to get American - made military equipment to provide the Algerian army with it, noting that Washington is studying the Algerian request with openness.
