Israel prevents students from visiting the Golan
Syria, Politics, 7/14/2001
News reports said that Israel prevented on Friday five female students studying at the Syrian universities from visiting their families in the occupied Golan under the pretext that they are married to Syrians.
The researcher in the occupied territories affairs Hamid al-Halabi told reporters that Israel gave consent to the entry of the female students to the occupied Golan through the ICRC but justified its refusal to permit them to cross the borders that they are married and have children registered in the Syrian civil records in Damascus.
He said that 200 students in the Syrian universities are recently permitted to cross the borders to enter the Golan to visit their families, noting that the last shift for this year will be on next Monday for 70 students.
