Al-Assad concludes eventful visit to Germany

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad returned back on Wednesday to Damascus after concluding his visit he had started on Tuesday to the Federal Republic of Germany, during which he held intensive talks with the German Chancellor Gerhard Shroeder. President al-Assad also met with the chairman of the German federal Parliament and with the President of the Federal republic of Germany Yuhans Rao.

On Wednesday, the President received at his residence in Berlin with the federal minister for economic cooperation and development in the German government, with the German foreign minister Yushka Fischer, a delegation representing the German industrialists and companies owners and the chairman of the foreign relations committee in the German federal parliament.

Later, the president received the representatives of the Syrian community in Germany.

The Talks the President held in these meetings dealt with bilateral relations with Germany, regional conditions in the Arab region and Europe and the stumbled ME peace process due to Israel's policy and conditions of the Syrian community in Germany.

Upon his arrival in Berlin on Tuesday, the President held talks with the German Chancellor and held a joint press conference with him and exchanged with him two friendly speeches at a dinner banquet the German chancellor held in his honor.

Also arrived back with President al-Assad were the Foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, the minister of the economy and foreign trade Muhammad al-Imadi, the minister of higher education Hassan Risheh, the minister of Industry Ahmad Hamou and the deputy foreign minister Suleiman Haddad.

During the President visit's to Berlin several agreements were signed between Syria and Federal Germany.

The President left Berlin on Wednesday evening in conclusion of a visit to Germany. He was seen off by the director general of the German protocol department, members of the Syrian community in Germany and high ranking German officials concerned.
