Kuwait-Regional, Politics, 7/12/2001
The Kuwaiti minister of state for foreign affairs Muhammad Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah said on Wednesday that member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC seek to crystallize policies serving the Arab nation's various issues.
In a pre-departure statement he made on Wednesday before he had left Kuwait for Jeddah to take part in the emergency meeting of the GCC member states foreign ministers due to start later in the day, Muhammad added that the GCC member states are meeting to crystallize policies that serve the Arab nation at the critical conditions prevailing the region.
As for Kuwait's position towards the continued Israeli threats of certain Arab states, Muhammad noted the unity of the Gulf stances towards issues of concern to the Arab nation, noting that " Kuwait's position is that the same of the Gulf position." He indicated that the Israeli practices are against peace in the region and not with it.
However, the GCC foreign ministers' emergency meeting, which was called upon by Saudi Arabia will discuss several international and regional issues especially developments in the Gulf region and the situation in the Middle East region.
The participants in the meeting will also discuss conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories under the continued Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people.
