IAAF ranking: Morocco's El Guerrouj 2nd, Bidouane dominates 400m hurdle

Morocco's athlete, Hicham El Guerrouj, world champion and world record holder of 1,500, still holds the 2nd rank in the IAAF 2001 ranking published on Tuesday in Monaco.
The first rank is held by American Maurice Green, world and Olympic champion of 100 m with 1,965 points. El Guerrouj holds 1,457 points.
On Friday, the Moroccan made the best performance of the year in the 1,500 m race at the Paris Saint-Denis meet. He also achieved the world best performance of the year in the mile race at the Rome Golden Gala.
El Guerrouj tops the IAAF ranking of the 1,500 m, mile and 2,000 m races, ahead of Kenya's Noah Ngeny and Bernard Lagat.
In the women's ranking, Morocco's Nezha Bidouane, dominate the 400 m/hurdles with a total of 1,359 points. Bidouane, who took the Bronze medal at the Sydney Olympic games also triumphed in the Rome Golden Gala, the Zagreb and Lausanne meets.
Bidouane holds the 23rd position at the general ranking where American Marion Jones, world and Olympic champ, ranked first.
