Sudanese President Omar Hassan Bashir expressed his keenness to work with President Hosni Mubarak on promoting bilateral relations. This came in the final communique of the Egyptian- Sudanese higher committee, held under First Vice President Ali Othman Taha and Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid.The communique expressed the two sides' support for lifting the UN sanctions imposed on Sudan. The US embassy in Sanaa on Saturday reopened its doors before the public after a closure which lasted for 4 weeks. A US diplomat said that the embassy resumed on Saturday its natural activities and its consulate department started to receive clients. The Saudi foreign minister prince Saud a-Faisal on Saturday in Jeddah met with the secretary general of the Tunisian Democratic constitutional coalition party Ali al-Shawish. Lebanese official sources announced on Saturday in Beirut that the Lebanese authorities refused an offer proposed by the UN to see a video tape which was pictured by a soldier in the Indian unity of UNIFIL working in South Lebanon in September 2000, the next day following the operation of arresting the Israeli soldiers in Shebaa farms when members of the Lebanese resistance had restored back a car which was broken in the previous day of the operation inside the Lebanese territories. "The American representative at 661 Sanctions Committee have put on hold 15 contracts Iraq concluded with world companies under phases VIII and IX of the oil-for-food and medicine program. A source at Trade Ministry told Iraqi News Agency that the contracts put on hold included cranes, bulldozers, motorcycles, welding apparatuses, air-conditioners, chlorine, tractors, construction materials and various spare parts," INA said yesterday. Moody's Assessment Institution announced that the Egyptian recent euro bonds deserve Ba1 settle. The Party for Progress and Socialism (PPS), which currently holds its 6th congress in Casablanca, on Monday elected 156 members to its central committee. The 156 members were elected by overwhelming majority. Women account for 20 percent of the new PPS committee, which will elect a secretary general and a political bureau. Go
