Libyan official hails relations with Egypt

Secretary of Libya's General People's Committee for African Unity Ali Abdul Salam Al-Turayki said Sunday that his country has always been looking forward to open up new horizons for cooperation with Egypt.

In statements to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) the Libyan official said that the leaders of the two states are keen on coordinating stances on various issues of mutual interest.

He added that Egypt and Libya were working jointly to tackle the situation in Sudan pointing out that he and his Egyptian counterpart, Ahmed Maher have submitted joint memorandum on the Egyptian-Libyan initiative to achieve reconciliation in Sudan to the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).

Meanwhile, Al-Turayki described the recent OAU Ministerial Council's meetings as good and fruitful noting that discussions covered topics related to the future of the African Union.
