Former Communist party elects central committee

The Party for Progress and Socialism (PPS), which currently holds its 6th congress in Casablanca, on Monday elected 156 members to its central committee. The 156 members were elected by overwhelming majority. Women account for 20 percent of the new PPS committee, which will elect a secretary general and a political bureau.
The PPS is participating in the center-left coalition government, led by the Socialist Union of Popular Forces.
