Clashes continue in the Palestinian territories
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/7/2001
While the Palestinian authority extended messages to the US President George Bush and to several world leaders including the basic ideas for its initiative which is based on debated initiatives to re-launching the Palestinian- Israeli negotiations, Israel has been continuing its attacks against unarmed Palestinians.
Moreover, four Palestinians were wounded on Friday when the Israeli forces opened fire at Palestinian men while performing their Friday prayers in Hebron ( al-Khalil) in the West Bank.
A Palestinian source said that Sharif Quneibi, one members of the " Fatah" movement was hit by a bullet of an Israeli sniper who was positioning on the roof of one building in Hebron, noting that this falls in the course of the liquidation schemes pursued by Israel against the Palestinian resistance men.
In al-Shallalah street in Hebron the Palestinian Intifada teenagers threw explosives on members of an Israeli on foot patrol, while armed confrontation took place between the Palestinian security forces and three Israeli on foot patrols at the Eastern entrance of Beit Sahour city.
The sources explained that the three Israeli patrols tried to enter an area under the control of the Palestinian authority, but the Palestinian security members clashed with them and forced them to retreat, while seven Palestinians were hit by the Israeli bullets during confrontation at the northern entrance of al-Beera.
This confrontation was preceded by a similar one on Thursday at the outskirts of al-Beera city resulted in killing one Palestinian and wounding 13 Palestinian security men near " Basfout" settlement. Other four Palestinians were seriously wounded when the Israeli settlers opened fire at their cat near " Renomim" settlement to the east of Ramullah, while two other Palestinians were hit in the confrontation took place near al-Khuder village.
The Palestinian teenagers bombarded by bombs an Israeli military position near " Ghadit " settlement.
In Gaza, Palestinian sources announced that two Palestinians were wounded on Thursday as a result of the Israeli artillery bombardment at Salah Eddine Gate and Yabnah camp in Rafah near the borders with Egypt and resulted in heavy damages to the houses.
Meantime, a spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry refused the call addressed to it by the Amnesty International, and the " Human Rights Watch," the two organizations which are concerned with human rights in order to send international ( UN) observers to the Palestinian territories to ensure human rights there.
The Israeli radio on Friday quoted the spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry as saying that " Israel has been always rejecting the idea of forming UN observers forces in the region and still has not changed its position to this effect."
