Regional-Brazil, Economics, 7/5/2001

Morocco's ambassador in Brasilia, Abdelmalek Cherkaoui Ghezouani, was appointed coordinator of preparatory meetings for the Brazil-Arab world entrepreneurial forum, slated for this July 24-25 in Rio de Janeiro.

The encounter, to be opened by Brazilian president Fernando Enrique Cardoso, will see the participation of the Arab League secretary general, Amr Moussa, and several Brazilian and Arab officials, representatives of some 200 Brazilian companies and 150 Arab ones.

The forum will explore several fields, including energy, oil, infrastructure, telecommunications, banking and finance, tourism and new information technologies.

The Moroccan diplomat said a high-ranking Moroccan delegation is expected in Brazil, adding that the two countries have exchanged several business missions recently. A Brazilian business delegation will be visiting Morocco next October.
