A railway to link the Syrian- Iraqi ports

The director of the Iraqi free zones area Hameed Shuker Mahmoud on Monday said tha Iraq has decided to link its ports to the Syrian ports through a railway line aiming to facilitate the transport of commodities and goods between the two countries.
The Iraqi weekly Nabd al-Shabab ( the impulse of youth) quoted Mahmoud in its recent issue as saying that the Iraqi ports in al-Basra ( 600 Km to the south of Baghdad) will be linked to the Syria ports by a railway line in order to facilitate the transport of commodities and related documentation. The Iraqi official gave no more details about this project.
