Al-Assad gets a phone call from Mubarak, Lahoud on Israeli aggressions

President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday afternoon received a telephone call from President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt.

Talks dealt with current conditions in the region under the continued Israeli aggressions and threats.

President Mubarak expressed to the President Egypt's condemnation and denunciation to the Israeli aggression launched on Sunday against a position for the Syrian army in Lebanon, stressing Egypt's solidarity and backing to Syria and Lebanon.

A similar telephone call was also made on Sunday between President al-Assad and the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud dealt with the current conditions in the region in light of the escalated Israeli aggressions and threats against Syria and Lebanon.

It was agreed to continue consultation and coordination between Syria and Lebanon in confrontation of these aggressions on the ground of the common relations of destiny between Syria and Lebanon.

Meantime, a telephone call was made between the Foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hamoud during which consultation and following up coordination were reviewed to repel the Israeli aggressions hached against Syria and Lebanon.

Al-Shara also received a telephone call from the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa in which Moussa expressed the Arab League's condemnation of the Israeli threats against Syria and Lebanon in being an aggression against the Arab nation as a whole.

However, in a new aggression against the Lebanese territories, two Israeli warplanes on Sunday attacked al-Bekaa area in Lebanon. The attack covered one of the Syrian forces positions working in Lebanon in Dhour al-Eiroun area and resulted in wounding two Syrian soldiers.

The Lebanese national forces retaliated this new aggression and the flagrant violation of the Lebanese sovereignty by bombarding the Israeli positions in the occupied Shebaa farms.

A statement by the Lebanese national resistance said that the resistance's missiles and heavy artillery attacked the Israeli positions in Shebaa farms and achieved direct hits and fires was seen coming out of these positions.

The statement explained that this attack comes in retaliation to the continued Israeli aggressions against the Lebanese territories, stressing that the Lebanese resistance have the full right to confront " the crimes of the Israeli forces and to repel their flagrant violations."

The Israeli forces also vombarded several areas in the liberated part of south Lebanon using heavy artillery and this resulted in heavy material losses in seven houses and eruption of several wires and wounding the Lebanese citizen Qasem Atawi.

The Israeli bombardment covered the Lebanese towns of Kafer Shouba, Sawannah and the route leading to Shebaa towns and the area separating Kafer Shouba from Bawabet Hassan, Burket al-Balda and the hills of al-Arqoub area.

The Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hamoud said that the Israeli aggression which hit the Syrian radar position is a violation to the UN resolution 425 and Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Hamoud added he will inform the UN secretary general and the UN security council about this new Israeli aggression against the Lebanese teritories, noting that Israel is committed to the policy of aggression rather than just and comprehensive peace the Arab have already comitted themselves to.

Hammoud noted that the joint Syrian- Lebanese statements which was issued on Saturday came as a reply to the Israeli threats agains the two countries.

For his part, the secretary general of the Hizbullah Party Hassan Nasrullah said that dealing with the new Israeli aggression will not be the same way already the former aggression was dealt with ( when Israel in May attacked a Syrian position in Lebanon and three Syrians were killed.."

In a speech he delivered at the rally making the first week following the death of Sheikh Mustafa Assaf in Bawadi town, Nasrullah said that the " Israeli aggression did not listen to wha was stated before and the Israelis are playing with fire and will not come up with any thing for its good." On the Arab level, Egypt has strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against Lebanon. He Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher in a statement described this aggression as an aggressive attack that " Egypt strongly denounces and considers as a grave Israeli escalation that threatens the region;s stability and security as a whole." Maher stressed Egypt's full support to the Syrian position in confronation of the Israeli agression and the Israeli provocation which constitute a violation to the international charters and UN resolution.

The Egyptian minister noted Arab unanimous stand in backing Syria and rejecting the Israeli aggression, calling on the international communit to move effectively t ut an end to the Israeli practices and to back the principles of international rights and justice.

For its part, Jordan strongly denounced the Israeli aggression, noting that this aggression will deteriorate conditions in the Middle east and if continue, will lead the region to the phase of comprehensive war.

In a statement, the Jordanian minister of information Saleh al-Qallab stressed Jordan's stand to support of Syria and Lebanon in all international circles and arenas. He said:" Jordan denounces this Israeli raid because it is not justified." Stressing tha such aggressions will increase tension in the region.
