Israel provokes Syria

Th Paris- based weekly al-Muharrir news issued on Friday said that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon is provoking Syria through expanding a settlement in the occupied Golan heights.

The paper added that the Israeli bulldozers and several Israeli workers started leveling the ground and removing rocks in the outskirts of an already existing settlement in the Golan in order to build 300 new building in implementation of a decision taken by the government of Sharon just two months earlier. A matter which is considered by Arab and western circles as an operation of negative provocation for the Syrian track proceeding towards escalation on a third front besides the Palestinian and Lebanese fronts.

The weekly said that Lebanese circles considered this Israeli behavior as a sort of flagrant provocation to Syria with aims that are still so far unclear.
