Egypt, Romania cooperate in agricultural, juducial domains

Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid and his Romanian counterpart Adrian Nastase will witness on Thursday the signing ceremony of two agricultural and judicial cooperation agreements.

Nastase will arrive in Cairo on Thursday, leading a high level delegation on a one-day visit. The Romanian Prime Minister will meet with President Hosni Mubarak.

Nastase is also expected to co-chair with Ebeid the joint committee meetings.

The two premiers will also see the signing of a protocol on meetings of the joint committee for technical and economic cooperation, which was held in Cairo yesterday .

The protocol covers future cooperation aspects between Egypt and Romania, especially in the economic, technical, investment, industrial, energy, power, agricultural, transportation and tourist fields.

Planning Minister Ahmad Darsh and Romania's Industry Minister co-chaired the second session of the joint Egyptian Romanian committee, which was attended by a number of Egyptian and Romanian businessmen and investors.

Darsh said the two sides tackled setting up a joint project for producing agricultural tractors in the free zone between businesspeople of the two countries with the aim of exporting them to Arab and COMESA markets.

The two sides agreed to produce tractors for the Egyptian sugar company, rehabilitating some of the machinery of the Alexandria Company for Sodium Carbonate.1 They also agreed to cooperate in preparing feasibility studies needed to set up units to produce calcium chloride, sodium and magnesium oxide, the minister added.
