Pentagon sends copters and servicemen to movie shot in Morocco
Morocco, Local, 6/28/2001
The US department of defense, the Pentagon, said it has sent four Black Hawk copters and some 35 rangers to take part in a movie currently being shot in Morocco.
The Pentagon spokesman said over one hundred army staff have been intermittently sent to Morocco between April and June to take part in "Black Hawk Down," depicting the US intervention in Somalia in 1993.
A deployment order was delivered to the military personnel, because no US troops are stationed in the region.
Oscar-winner Ridley Scott is directing the movie.
The operation which cost US$ 3 million will be financed by "Revolution Studios" production company, except for salaries, says the Pentagon.
