Qatar, Local, 6/27/2001
The Qatari Shoura council has called on the ruler of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani to keep the consumption of electricity and waters free for the Qataris so as to avoid them new financial risks. The Qatari dailies issued on Tuesday said that the Shoura council discussed in its Monday's session the question of imposing fees on water and electricity consumption by the Qataris who had been exempted from these fees and decided to submit this recommendation to Sheikh Hamad.
Just recently, the government of Qatar proposed to impose fees on water and the electricity consumed by the Qatari citizens for the first time in the history of Qatar.
