Yemen calls Arab parliamentary union to hold special session on Intifada
Yemen-Palestine, Politics, 6/26/2001
Yemen proposed Monday to hold a special session of the Arab parliamentary union (APU) on the intifada before the end of the current month, sources from the Palestinian national council said in Amman.
The session will probe means of enhancing support to the Intifada and countering the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
It will also discuss proposals to set up a popular fund to back the intifada, stage media and political campaigns to foster awareness on the plight of the Palestinians and coordinate backing efforts at the regional and international scales.
The possibility to convene such a special session was discussed during the recent visit speaker of the Palestinian national council, Salim Zaanoun, paid to Yemen.
