Saudi crown prince for more balanced US role in ME
Saudi Arabia-Regional, Politics, 6/26/2001

The Saudi crown prince and the first deputy premier in Saudi Arabia prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz has urged the US and Europe to play a more effective and balanced role in the ME peace process and to honor human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement to the British daily " Financial Times " issued on Monday, prince Abdullah warned against the consequences of the continued Israeli aggressive escalation against the Palestinian citizens.

The Saudi crown prince also called for the need of forming an international force to monitor the cease- fire between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

He added that Europe shoulders a moral and political responsibility towards the region, stressing the need of a greater European role.

The Saudi crown prince also stressed his country's commitment to maintain the stability of the world oil market.
