Lebanon, Kuwait sign memorandum of understanding

Lebanon and Kuwait on Sunday evening signed a memorandum of understanding in the cultural field to reactivate the executive program signed in 1995 for the years 2001- 2003.

Representing the Lebanese side, the agreement was signed by the Lebanese minister of culture Ghassan Salamah and Kuwait was represented by the Kuwaiti minister of information Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahd, who is also the chairman of the national council for culture, arts and literatures.

The two sides agreed to organize art exhibitions in the two states and taking part in book exhibitions so as to foster cooperation to this end. The two sides also agreed to take part in art festivals taking place in the two countries.

The agreement states that the two sides to exchange printings and publications relating to antiquities as well as books and publications relating to heritage, manuscripts and the exchange of attending seminars and conferences relating to this domain.

The two sides also encourage maintaining cooperation between the national library in Kuwait and its counterpart in Lebanon as well as exchanging the visits of literary men, poets and intellectuals and publications issued by cultural establishments in the two countries.

The signing agreement was attended by the secretary general of the national council for culture, the arts and literatures Muhammad al-Rumeihi and the ministry of information secretary Mubarak al-Idawani and the Lebanese ambassador to Kuwait.
