Beit Al-Mal Al-Quds meeting calls for financial backing to holy city

The Beit Al-Mal Al-Quds' tutorship council, held here this June 22-23, called Islamic institutions and donor countries to extend financial backing to holy city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to carry out projects.
The second session of Beit Al-Mal Al-Quds agency says renovating houses and building new ones in the city require one million US dollars.
Participants lauded Saudi Arabia's US$ 2-million assistance for education facilities in the city and recommends that Islamic countries and institutions support the vital sector of education by the construction of new schools and maintenance and equipment of existing ones in order to secure to the city children an education conform to the Palestinian education system.
The committee, grouping Morocco, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Palestinian also said an amount of US$ five million would be needed next year for the Palestinian education ministry budget. It also underscored the importance of securing the return of refugees hailing from the city and called the agency administrative council to ponder on the budget needed to enforce personal loans system to enable Palestinians build individual or collective housing units. Each of the two projects were estimated to cost US$ 10 million.
The committee further decided to put off the study of the health projects submitted by the agency, estimated at over US$ 3 million, and called the agency to extend its activities to economic and socio-cultural sectors and submit a work plan to the next administrative board meeting to examine the needed budgets.
It also called Islamic countries to financially support the agency programs by extending donations to the agency and appealed to Arab countries to execute understanding memoranda signed with the agency and collaborate to set forth projects included in these agreements.
The agency recommends dispatching official delegations from the Al-Quds Committee member countries to Islamic countries to explain the agency mission and encourage countries and public and private institution to collaborate with the agency.
