Saudi minister of the Interior statement on al-Khuber explosion
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 6/24/2001

The Saudi minister of the Interior prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz has stressed that the list issued by the US justice department against persons convicted in al-Khuber explosion is not of concern to the Saudi government, nor in the course of the case. He denied any coordination between his government and the American government on the said list.

This was expressed in a press interview issued on Saturday by the Saudi daily al-Riyadh in reply to the declaration of the US ministry of justice on " an American accusation list " against 13 Saudis and Lebanese for their involvement in al-Khuber explosion in 1996 which resulted in killing 19 American soldiers and wounding of other 370.

Prince Nayef said that the said list has no effect in regard to the course of the case, stressing that this case will take its due course, like all other cases before the Saudi security sides and the Saudi judiciary. He explained that what was indicated by the Americans the Saudi government knows nothing about and that the Americans did not coordinate with Saudi Arabia towards it.
