Peres confers with Solana

The Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres on Friday met with the European foreign policy commissioner Javier Solana in Jerusalem.
During the meeting Peres claimed that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat does not work to halt the Palestinian Intifada in the West Bank and Gaza.
The Israeli radio said that Peres asked the US and Europe to revitalize its economic activities besides its political activities in the region in order what he called the improvement of the living conditions for the Palestinians, keeling a blind eye on the comprehensive military siege imposed by Israel on them.
