Beit Mal Al Quds' meeting very beneficial for Palestinian resistance
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 6/21/2001

Palestine's ambassador in Teheran, Salah Zouai, said the meeting next week of the tutorship committee of the Beit Mal Al Quds will be very beneficial to supporting the Palestinian resistance.

The Palestinian diplomat hailed Morocco's initiatives and its leading role at the Al-Quds committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, and hoped that the meeting of June 22-23 will yield positive results. He added that everybody is grateful to Morocco for the responsibilities it shoulders regarding the issue of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the Palestinian cause in general.

The Beit Mal Al-Quds is a fund set up in 1995 upon a proposal by the late King Hassan II. It comprises Morocco, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Palestine. The fund endeavors to save Al-Quds, defend the Palestinian rights over the city, support their resistance and safeguard the city's cultural, religious and architectural legacy.

The Palestinian ambassador, dean of the diplomatic corps in Teheran, also deplored the tragic situation in the Palestinian territories where 600 Palestinians died 30,000 others were injured, 400,000 trees were uprooted and 4,000 buildings destroyed.

The Palestinian economy losses are estimated at billions of dollars, he went on explaining that this situation requires an Arab joint action to support the Palestinian people and help in the reconstruction of what the Israeli war machine destroyed.
