Head of French employers: Morocco boasts considerable assets for foreign investors
Morocco-France, Economics, 6/20/2001

Morocco boasts considerable assets for foreign investors, mainly for French enterprises which trust the Moroccan economy's vitality, said Ernest-Antoine Seilliere, head of the French employers association (MEDEF).

In a chronicle published by a monthly "Partenariat Europe-Maghreb," Seilliere says more than 800 French firms are settled in Morocco, employing around 65,000 persons, creating partnership and winning major projects in totally-transparent and competitive procedures.

The MEDEF head recalled his visit to Morocco in April 2000 and the contacts he held, revealing the existence of a firm will on the part of the government to resolve the difficulties he raised: estate, justice, administrative red tape.

For him, the association agreement concluded between Morocco and the European Union is a clear signal to French economic promoters who are further encouraged by the ongoing privatization process, capital opening, efforts to boost the country's economic competitiveness.

He went on exceptional relations existing between MEDEF and its Moroccan counterpart (CGEM) will further promote the Moroccan-French deep friendship.

Seilliere's Moroccan counterpart, Hassan Chami, expressed the association's faith in the future of the two bodies' relations and in a strategic partnership between enterprises.

He also explained Morocco has substantially improved its economic, fiscal, administrative and legal environment so as to match the European norms dictated by the opening in 2010 of a free-trade area with the European Union.

He also urged France to be more creative in its investments to support Morocco's development and progress endeavors.
