Jordan hands Israel the remains of 4 Jews
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 6/20/2001
The Israeli official radio said on Tuesday that Jordan handed over Israel the remains of four Jewish workers who were killed accidentally more than 70 years ago in the site of the first water station in the region established in Palestine in 1923.
The workers were buried since 1930 in the Jordanian side of the borders and the remains were handed over on Monday amid a complete secrecy following intensive contacts that took place between the two sides, and in particular attended by the Israeli President Moshe Katsav.
The four workers were among the employed staff of " Palestine electricity company " which was established in 1923 in Palestine under the British mandate at the meeting point of the Jordan and al-Yarmouk rivers to the south of Tiberies lake.
