Morocco-Germany, Business, 6/19/2001
A branch of German Volkswagen car-maker (Automative Wiring Systems Morocco) has purchased a land plot of 43,270 square meters at the Tangiers Free Zone to build a plan to manufacture car electric cables.
Construction of the project, estimated to cost 150 million Dirhams (US$ 13.6 million) will start in July and is scheduled to be completed in February 2002. It will generate 1,500 jobs with production exclusively destined to European markets.
Local authorities hope that more German companies will chose to relocate their production plants in the promising Tangiers Free Zone.
