Supreme water and climate council holds 9th session June 21-22
Morocco, Environment, 6/19/2001
The Moroccan supreme council on water and climate holds its 9th session in the southern Atlantic city of Agadir June 21- 22.
A statement by the ministry of the royal household, protocol and chancellery said King Mohammed VI will chair the opening of the session Thursday morning.
The 9th session is the first to be held after the Moroccan parliament adopted in 1995 a law on water, setting up the legal implements for a rational management and a better exploitation of water resources.
The council was set up in 1981. Its 8th session was held in 1994.
The supreme council on water and climate, placed under the aegis of the King, seeks to involve elected representatives, socio-professional organizations, administrations and public sectors in defining water-related orientations and in decision-making on the country's water policy.
