On water issue between Syria and Turkey

The Lebanese daily as-Safir said in its Monday's analysis that the recent Turkish step to reduce the amounts of waters passed in the course of the Euphrates river did not push Damascus towards provoking a strong dispute with Ankara despite the importance of this matter to Syria.
The paper attributed this Syrian attitude to the neighborly strategy Syria pursues in her relations with each of Turkey, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon, noting the impossibility of separating this strategy from the overall strategic and political changes that surround Syria and her regional and international relations during the 1990 s.
