Cairo economic summit postponed
Regional, Economics, 6/18/2001
Well- informed sources in the Jordanian capital Amman said that Egypt had informed Jordan that it was decided to postpone the date for convening the Cairo Arab first economic summit which was due to be held in November this year.
The sources said that the new date for convening the economic summit is December of this year.
Worthy mentioning that the periodical Arab summit which was held in Amman in March of this year approved the convening of an Arab economic summit in Cairo in order to follow up the implementation of the economic resolutions adopted by the Arab summit in Amman.
However, the reason behind delaying the summit was because its convening will be coinciding with the meeting of the World Trade Organization to be held in Doha in November this year. Jordan will take part in the said meeting in its being a member of the organization.
