Cleopatra stuns the world
Egypt, History, 6/16/2001

The British capital, London, is still talking about Queen Cleopatra. She raised controversy after so long years of history over her special beauty in the symposium held at the side-line of Cleopatra exhibition, entitiled: 'From History to Legend'. A great number of scientists and archeologists, from all over the world, who are interested in that Ptolemic Queen, took part in the event.

Dr. Suzanne Walker, exhibition organizer, said visitors amounting to 80 thousand, paid 550 thousand sterling (more than LE 3 million). There were about 394 peerless pieces from 30 museums at the world level, all showing Cleopatra, Mark Antony, Julius Caesar and the historic period they lived in.

Archeologist Ahmed Abdul Fattah, manager of the Greek-Roman museum said the exhibition included 15 statues of Cleopatra alone. The most distinguished are 3 pieces of scattered heads of Ptolemic rulers that had been unearthed in Alexandria.

The exhibition originally kicked off in Rome and lasted for 3 months. After London, it will move to Chicago to stay for another 3 months. Then, all exhibited pieces would return back to due museums.
