Sudan-USA, Politics, 6/16/2001

The Sudanese government on Thursday criticized the draft bill adopted by the US Congress on Wednesday to impose economic restrictions on Sudan.

A spokesman for the Sudanese foreign ministry told the Sudanese news agency that the draft bill includes negative signals that are not in the service of the efforts made by the Sudanese government in order to reaching a peaceful settlement that is under negotiations in order to end the rebellion in Southern Sudan.

One of the items of the American draft bill bans the companies working in Sudan the possibility of putting its shares in the American Stock Market unless the Stock Market operation committee reports about its activities.
