Former Lebanese foreign minister to visit Syria

Lebanese ministerial sources expect that the former foreign minister Fuad Butrous will during the few coming days hold several contacts with Lebanese spiritual and political references with the aim to complete contacts he had started on the Beirut- Damascus line.

To this end, the Lebanese daily al-Deyar quoted Butrous as saying that he had felt a positive progress regarding his initiative and that he will be meeting with Patriarch Mar Nasrullah Sfeir by the beginning of next week to convey to him certain Syrian answers to the series of inquiries and demands raised by the patriarch and that Butrous will crown his contacts by a nearby meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, from which Butrous expects several " happy surprises" towards the line of dialogue between Bkerki and Damascus.
