Palestinian, Jordanian officials to settle restrictions on travel of Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan

The Palestinian in charge of the civil affairs in the Palestinian Authority Jamil al-Treifi will head today for Amman in order to discuss with the Jordanian deputy Premier and the Minister of the Interior Awad Khleifat the possibility of settling the restrictions placed on the travel of the Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan.
In a statement he made on Friday in Gaza, al-Treifi expressed his hope that this problem will be settled for helping the Palestinian citizens, noting that contacts were made with officials in the Jordanian government and that some 400 persons who were suspended on ( King Hussein) bridge were permitted to travel to Jordan.
On the other hand, an official at the Jordanian ministry of the Interior said on Thursday that 200 Palestinians who were suspended at the bridge could enter Jordan, and he denied that the Jordanian authorities prevented them from entering and stressed that Israel was the one which stopped the coaches at the borders.
The source said that the Israeli authorities refused, for their part, to permit the coaches to return back to the West Bank without giving the reason.
Last Monday, the Jordanian minister of the Interior announced that Jordan gave its instructions recently to impose a precondition that the Palestinians of the West Bank have to get a special licensing in order to enter Jordan, in agreement with the Palestinian Authority. He stressed that these instructions are preventive organizational measures came in an agreement with the Palestinian National Authority and aim at preventing the attempt to evacuate the Palestinians from their own territories.
