Turkish- Syrian relations are in their best

Well-informed Turkish diplomatic sources in Damascus said that Turkey considers its current relations with Syria in their best more than any time before, adding that the prospects of cooperation between the two countries can be developed into wider prospects.
The two countries, however, are exchanging security visits, and the last one of these visits that paid by the chairman of the political security department in Syria Lt. Gen. Adnan Bader Hassan.
Moreover, a Syrian economic delegation led by the minister of the economy and foreign trade Muhammad al-Imadi will visit Turkey during the few coming days in the framework of the joint Syrian- Turkish committee to raise the level of trade exchange between the two countries into $ one billion.
Number of Turkish trucks which work in transit trade through the Syrian territories reached 24,000 cars, whereas the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached $ 540 million in 1999.
In 1998, both Turkey and Syria agreed to settle their differences in Adanah agreement after the differences reached utmost tension after which Turkey built up its forces among its 1347 borders with Syria.
