Lahoud's visit, a new impetus to Moroccan-Lebanese ties, Youssoufi
Morocco-Lebanon, Politics, 6/14/2001

The official visit President Emile Lahoud is currently paying to Morocco will give a new impetus to the Moroccan-Lebanese ties, Moroccan prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoui, said Wednesday.

Youssoufi told reporters his meeting with the Lebanese head of state on Wednesday in Agadir was positive and fruitful.

He announced that the Moroccan-Lebanese joint commission, set up in 1997, will meet in the coming weeks to study means to upgrade cooperation between the two Arab states.

The resumption of an air link between Morocco and Lebanon was also raised by Youssoufi and Lahoud. Decisions relating to this question will be announced shortly, Youssoufi said.

The Prime Minister also voiced Morocco's full backing to Lebanon in its struggle to recover the Shebaa farms, occupied by Israel.

The Lebanese president also conferred with Abdelouahed Radi, speaker of the house of representatives(lower chamber of Parliament).
