Egypt-USA, Local, 6/13/2001
Egypt's investigators, into the Egyptian Boeing airliner's crash off the American coast in 1999, left Cairo for New York Tuesday morning to hand over to the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Wednesday Egypt's final report on the American crash blueprint, Mohsen Meseiri, head of the official investigation committee, said before departure.
NTSB issued on April 18 a final draft report on reasons behind the Crash of EgyptAir plane and according to the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Egypt had 60 days to study the report and make its remarks to the American side before announcing its report.
Egypt has rejected the American report described as a secret between Egypt and the US.
EgyptAir said that investigations into the October crash of its flight 990 and other Boeing 7672 had raised serious questions about the integrity of the elevator control system which makes the aircraft go up and down.
