Lebanese resistance confront Israeli warplanes
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 6/13/2001
In a remarkable development in the question of confrontation with Israel on the Lebanese borders, the Lebanese national resistance said on Tuesday in a statement that the air defense unit in the resistance intercepted on Tuesday afternoon twice for the Israeli warplanes in South lebanon and opened fire at them.
It was noted that the Lebanese resistance defined in the statement the two places where their defense means intercepted the Israeli planes, over Bin Jbeil ( the central sector) and Zibqin area ( the western sector).
Observers say in this development that confrontation from now on will not be limited to Shebaa farms which also means the expansion of the circle of confrontation to any place that an Israeli violation take place, being in the air, land and the sea.
Sources close to Hizbullah party said that the Lebanese resistance has been patient for a long time over the Israeli air violation which reached all Lebanese airspace and also the Lebanese resistance hoped for a long time for containing these violations which Lebanon had earlier opposed and filed several complaints to the UN but in futility.
Well-informed sources say that the Islamic resistance decided, as it seems, to adopt the logic of repelling the Israeli the Israeli air violations as from now.
However, this issues is expected to impose itself on the talks to be held by the UN secretary general Kofi Annan on Friday and Saturday when he will be meeting in Beirut with the Lebanese President speaker of parliament, the prime minister and the foreign minister.
Annan's personal representative in South lebanon Stevan De Misora said that the UN secretary general will visit South Lebanon this time because his visit is political and dealing with the developments of conditions in the Middle east region.
