The state of alert canceled in Bahrain
Bahrain, Politics, 6/13/2001

Bahrain has canceled the state of alert it had announced in the year 2000 in Hawar island after three months from ending its disputes with Qatar on the islands, in a measure made before the end of the grace period until June 30, declared by al-Manama for oil companies to submit its tenders for exploring oil and gas concerning the islands.

The Gulf News Agency quoted the Bahraini crown prince Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad al-Khaleifa as saying during a tour in the islands on Monday as saying that his country has ended the state of alert declared at the International court of Justice and that things returned back to normalcy in Hawar islands and that all roads are open between Bahrain and Qatar on the ground of fraternity and amity.

Bahrain had informed the international court of justice in the Hague in June that it had put its forces stationed in Hawar in a state of alert and in the mid of March this year the court sentenced in favor of Bahrain in Hawar island, and thereby ending the disputes arising between the two states through several decades. The court also gave three small islands to Qatar used to be controlled by Bahrain.
