Togo's president winds up visit to Morocco

RABAT, June 12 (MAP)- President Gnassingbe Eyadema of Togo left Morocco this Tuesday at the end of a three-day visit during which he was received by King Mohammed VI.
President Eyadema told reporters at the airport that his talks with the sovereign surveyed the situation in Africa, mainly after the entry into force of the African Union.
To question on inter-African relations, President Eyadema deplored the lack of cooperation between the countries of the continent and called these countries to exploit all the potentials of the continent.
The Togolese head of state who is currently holding the chairmanship of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) renewed the call he had launched in 1994 to set up an African force.
As to Moroccan-Togolese relations, President Eyadema underlined the excellence of these relations and said his visit was meant to enhance further bilateral cooperation at all levels.
During his visit, President Eyadema also met speaker of the House of Representatives (lower house of the parliament), Abdelouahed Radi.
Talks covered the situation in Africa and the problems facing the continent at the economic, social and political levels.
President Eyadema was accompanied by ministers of foreign affairs, Koffi Panou, of Defense, Hassan Tijani, and of planning, territory development and urbanism, Simfeitcheo Pre.
