An electronic government in the Gulf states

In the framework of the attempt of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to adapt its economics with social and economic developments at the regional and international levels and to increase its competitiveness through benefiting from advanced technologies in the area of telecommunications, the ministers of development and planning in the GCC states discussed the possibility of setting up the first electronic government in the six GCC member states.

The said ministers also discussed the implementation of a population strategy for the GCC member states according to the general framework adopted by the GCC leaders in their annual summit in 1998.

The ministers also discussed the possibility of unifying national census held in the six states and updating of special regulations and legislation relating to general statistics so as to attain transparency and comprehensiveness.
