Al-Assad confers with Iranian vice President Habibi

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Monday at the Damascus al-Shaab palace received the Iranian vice President Hassan Habibi and members of the accompanying delegation.
Talks dealt with the situation in the region, and friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.
Habibi conveyed to President Bashar al-Assad commiseration and President Muhammad Khatami and the Iranian people on the occasion of the first anniversary of the death of the late President Hafez al-Assad.
President Bashar al-Assad asked Habibi to convey his greetings to President Muhammad Khatami on the winning of the Presidential elections in Iran coupled with his best wishes of success and continued progress and prosperity for the people of Iran.
