Kuwaiti refuses a request to open an office for Hamas

The Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas said on Sunday that Kuwait has not approved a request proposed by the chairman of the political bureau of the Hamas movement Khaled Mashaal to open an office for the movement in Kuwait.

The paper quoted sources close to Hamas as saying that the Kuwaiti foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah told Mashaal that it is " difficult at the meantime to open an office for hamas stressing his country's readiness to other forms of contacts with the movement.

On the other hand, the Spanish daily "Almondo" said that the Spanish authorities have fears of the current contacts between the " Hamas" movement and the " Hery Batasona" party, the political wing of the separatist Eta movement.

The paper said that a delegation from the "Hamas movement" composed of ten persons visited for 15 days various towns in al-Basek which is controlled by the "Hery Batasona " party by the beginning of the current year.

The paper which is known by being pro- government added that these current relations between the Hamas movement and the Hery Batasona party raised fears in the government of Madrid of the escalation of violence in al-Basek province, after the extremist youths movements in this province, situated to the north of Spain, adopted the Palestinian model in confrontation of Israel.
