Attackers of Qatari daily chief editor released
Qatar, Local, 6/11/2001
The Qatari security on Saturday released the three men who attacked the chief editor of the Qatari daily al-Watan Ahmad Ali and this was made after reaching an " amicable settlement," according to sources close to Ali.
Eye-witnesses said on Thursday that three armed men with knives beat the chief editor of al-Watan in his office until he fell unconscious.
The police arrested the attackers after this incident.
The same sources added that the three men were released after reaching " an amicable solution thanks to an initiative made by the Qatari foreign minister Sheikh hamad Bin Jasem Bin jaber al-Thani." The sources noted that this initiative aimed at maintaining a settlement between al-Ateyah family, to which the three attackers belong and Bin Ali.
