On Iranian- Egyptian relations

An Iranian official has expressed his confidence that Arab- Iranian relations will witness more depth and growth in the second term of office for the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami who is expected to be re-elected in the elections to be held today.

Member of the Iranian Shoura council Jalil Sajar said that there is a conviction that Khatami holds that developing relations with Egypt and Saudi Arabia is a must that cannot be denied for serving the interests of the Middle East region.

During his visit to Doha, the Iranian official stressed that the policy to eliminate the reasons of tension pursued by the Iranian President during the four past years, especially with the Arab states continues a high speed.

Replying to a question on the delay to resuming diplomatic relations between Egypt and Iran, the Iranian official stressed that full normalization of relations between Cairo and Tehran embodies a strong desire in the two sides, noting that full resumption of relations will be made very soon.
