Israeli forces broke into Palestinian villages
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 6/7/2001
Some 9 Palestinians were wounded in an attack carried out by the Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Israeli forces in Barqa area, near Hebron.
Other 13 Palestinians were wounded in similar confrontations in Sarda village to the north of Ramullah and the Israeli forces closed al-Khuder town and fixed an iron Gate on the main road leading to the town, which links Bethlehem and Hebron cities and the surrounding villages.
The Israeli forces also installed a new military point in a building inside al-Saweyah town after it had expelled 14 Palestinian citizens who used to live in that place and demolished several Palestinian houses surrounding Rafah along the borders with Egypt and started to dig a trench of ten meters depth and a length of three kilometers to prevent any contacts with the city.
A strong explosion took place in the area adjoining Erez barrier to the north of Gaza and no details were reported about the incident because of the military siege imposed by the Israeli forces.
Meantime, the government of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon threatened activists in the Palestinian national forces and groups in case the Palestinian authority refused to detain them and hand them to the Israeli authorities. The Israeli radio said that the Palestinian Authority was handed a list including 120 leading figures on top of them are Muhammad Deif and Mahmoud Abu Hannoud, two leaders of the Hamas movement.
