Arab World refuses Israeli threats of attacking Lebanon,Syria
Regional-Israel, Politics, 6/6/2001
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa Tuesday stressed the Arab League's categorical rejection of Israeli threats to attack Lebanon and Syria.
In statements to the Australian broadcast, Moussa said Arab refusal of such threats is self-evident, stressing that this stance was clearly and frankly demonstrated by Arab leaders, especially President Hosni Mubarak.
"The Palestinians, like any other people, are dreaming of a place under the sun and an independent state," Moussa said.
The Palestinians are not asking for expelling the Israelis or throwing them in the sea as some claim. They only want to regain their legitimate rights and to live an honourable life, Moussa said.
He branded as very serious the ongoing obstinacy against these rights. "The situation in the Middle East is very bad," Moussa said, stressing that in light of the ongoing Israeli storming of Palestinian lands, building settlements and obstructing the Palestinians' freedom to move, Intifada and resistance became a natural matter.
